Job Description
- The Design Release Engineer is responsible for the engineering, design, development, validation, timing, and production releases of their parts.
- The Engineer will have end to end ownership of their components and ensuring they meet vehicle functional objectives.
- Responsible for Supporting Feasibility Dev. thru Template application with Design Office Themes.
- Quality improvements, weight reduction, cost reduction and other efficiency improvement initiatives including communicating technical product status to management.
- Engineer to support meetings throughout NA work hours to work closely with local engineering teams,
- Architecture/Vehicle Concepts & PDO with iterative models to align with all packaging, functional objectives, and system requirements
- Responsible for part components & assemblies thru Program CAD milestones. Responsible for System Requirement Sections & Part Template Application thru entire program. Responsible for Maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for Engineering.
- Responsibilities also include: component design, development, and packaging; Design Verification Plan & Report (DVPR) testing; change management; bill of material maintenance; prototype and production build support; issues management; CAD model management in Teamcenter; weight reduction, cost reduction and other efficiency improvement initiatives; and communicating technical product status to management.
- Additionally, supporting vehicle assembly plants for any product technical issues, support service teams for any field warranty issues and help in root cause analysis of the failures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program.
- 1-8 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience designing and developing of the parts, components and sub-assemblies.:
- Experience with injection molding, sheet metal, and decorating plastic components.
- Experience with OEM or supplier design and release.
- Experience with NX, Catia V5, and Teamcenter.
- Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R creation and execution.
- Experience with component builds and execution.
- Experience with production process feasibility and development including mold flow analysis or other interior component manufacturing processes.
